LeadMaster F.A.Q – find garbage in signature

July 22, 2011

Why do I find garbage in signature sent to the Client using Email Templates?

  • This is typically a result of using copy/paste of your signature from one of your existing Emails that you have in Outlook or from Word.  When you do this it copies in the Microsoft Office formatting.  This is known to cause issues with the LeadMaster email editor.  If you are going to copy/paste from an Outlook email or a Word document you will need to use the “Paste from Word” icon located on the email editor.
  • To ensure that your signature will render correctly, it is recommended that you create a primary signature within the application using the email editor only.
  • An alternative is to create each of your templates with a signature in the template using the email editor to do so.

10 Benefits of Cloud Computing

July 21, 2011

Lower Costs – Cloud Computing offers tremendous advantages in terms of reduced costs.

  • Cloud Computing spreads the IT costs over a large community of users.
  • You do not need to hire your own IT team or consultant. With traditional computing you either need an IT team or consultant. With cloud those IT functions are provided by the cloud vendor.
  • You do not need to purchase your own software & servers etc. With traditional computing you have to buy the hardware and software and maintain it. With cloud those servers etc. are maintained by the cloud vendor.

Scalable – You can scale your companies needs up or down seamlessly rather than having to hire staff and purchase expensive hardware.

Automatic Updates – There is no need for IT to implement upgrades. The cloud vendor performs the upgrade and it is immediately available to everyone who subscribes.

Remote Access – Employees can access their information from any location with an internet connection. The information that they can get on the desktop at work is also accessible on their hand held smart phones. The information they need is always at their fingertips.

Ease of Implementation – Without the need for installation of hardware and software, you can be up and running in less than a day.

Wide selection of solutions – Skilled Vendors like LeadMaster LLC offering cloud hosted SaaS (Software as a Service) CRM/SFA lead management, lead nurturing, e-mail marketing services at an affordable monthly per user license cost.

Improved performance – Because the cost of the cloud solution is spread over a large community of users, cloud vendors typically have very high performance systems which offer a better performance than having your own infrastructure.

Levels the playing field – Cloud computing allows small companies to compete more effectively with larger businesses when they are both using the same business tools.

Reliability & Security – Cloud vendors have designed their systems to run 24/7 with secure data storage, disaster recovery and business continuity at an affordable price.

Green Computing – Because the cloud computing infrastructure is supporting a large number of users, cloud computing typically uses less energy than traditional data centers on a cost per user basis.

LeadMaster F.A.Q – Importing to a sales opportunity form

July 21, 2011

Can I import data directly into a custom opportunity form?

  • You cannot import directly into an Opp form BUT you can do an Opportunity FUM into one.  Run your import then run a FUM into the Opportunity form.  Best practice is to download the imported data so that you can get the recdno but if your data has a unique field in it where you are sure the data is not duplicated in the db then you don’t need to download to get the recdno, you can just use the original imported data.

LeadMaster F.A.Q – merge fields work in email templates

July 20, 2011

Why don’t the merge fields work in email templates?

  • This sometimes happens when a user highlights only part of the variable and then formats it resulting in formatting tags getting between the brackets [ ].
  • For example in this HTML the brackets surrounds the formatting [<strong><span style=”text-decoration:underline;”>ContactFirstName]</span></strong>.  There cannot be anything inside of the left and right braces brackets “ContactFirstName”.  The code should read:<strong><span style=”text-decoration:underline;”>[ContactFirstName]</span></strong>
  • Note the bracket, then the format, then ContactFirstName is incorrect.
  • It should be format, bracket, ContactFirstName, bracket – for example <strong>
    [ContactFirstName]</strong>
  • You can correct the html by opening the template and either fixing the code from the HTML view or by removing that entire line and re-entering the merge field and ensuring that you fully highlight the entire merge field including braces prior to applying any formatting.
  • The issue is only an issue when the user does not highlight the entire merge field and braces when applying formatting.

There are two new options for searching records (found in the ‘CRM Management’ section):

a. Calling Permission

b. Email Message Sent Date

Email Marketing Permission Search Options

Email Marketing Permission Search Options

When searching records, if any of the contacts in the record have the selected email marketing permission that record will display in the search results.  For example, if you have 100 contacts in the record for Pepsi and one of them has opted out, the record for Pepsi will display in the search results.

There is one new option for searching contacts (found in the ‘Contact Search’ section), ‘Calling Permission’.

LeadMaster F.A.Q – merge fields work when sending a test email

July 18, 2011

Why don’t the merge fields work when sending a test email?

  • The merge fields are associated with a specific record.  Since the test email doesn’t have a record associated with it there is nothing to merge.
  • If you’d like to test your email to confirm that is it merging correctly we suggest that you create a record with your contact information and you send the email to yourself as a test.
