That Coffee is for Closers

If you’re in sales or marketing chances are you’ve seen the famous 1992 Alec Baldwin movie ‘Glengary Glen Ross’.  If you haven’t seen it you can find the famous ‘That Coffee is for Closers’ scene on YouTube.

This month’s cartoon from the Sales Lead Management Association reminded me of that movie.

These days there is so much more to managing leads than there was back in 1992.  In the movie the leads came in on 3×5 cards and were handed out at the sales meeting.  These days leads come in from the internet, email, phone calls, business reply cards, trade shows, virtual trade shows, etc.  Reps no longer have to wait days for the new leads.  Now we measure response time in minutes.  Today, if you can’t respond to an internet lead in less than 90 seconds there is something wrong with the way you are managing your sales leads.  Who knows, maybe someone will produce ‘Lead Management‘ the movie.
