New Feature – Updated Password Management

LeadMaster allows the administrator to define rules around passwords at the workgroup level. These rules include the following:

a. Password strength requirements

  1. Requires upper and lower case characters
  2. Requires a number
  3. Requires a special character – !@#$%^&*()_+
  4. Minimum number of characters

b. Allow re-use of previous passwords
c. Password expiration (in days)
d. Number of logon attempts allowed before locking out the user

To access the Password Management feature you’ll need access to Administration and access to Add / Edit Workgroup.

NOTE the following:

  1. If “Enforce Password Rules” is unchecked, NO password rules are enforced (at logon, when changing a password, etc.)
  2. If the user has access to more than one workgroup, NO password rules are enforced (at logon, when changing a password, etc.)

Password Rules – Number of logon attempts allowed before locking out the user

When a user attempts to logon with an incorrect password and exceeds the number of logon attempts allowed before locking out the user, they will see the following message:

If the user is locked out an administrator must unlock the user, using the Logon Management feature, before they may logon successfully.

NOTE the following:

a. When a user has been locked out, the username will display in red with “(Locked)” following the username.

b. When a user has been locked out, An “Unlock” link will display to the right of the “User Settings” link. Clicking on this link unlocks the user, but does not reset the user’s password.

When a user is within 7 days of the expiration of their password, once logged on successfully, they will be asked to update their password.

The user has the option to update their password at this time, or continue to their home page without updating their password.

If the user neglects to update their password before the expiration of their password, they will be locked out and see the following message:   Your password has expired and you are temporarily locked out.  Please contact your administrator to reset your password.

At this point, the administrator must reset the user’s password before that user may logon successfully.

d. When a user’s password has expired, the administrator must click on the ‘Privileges’ link and update the user’s password. This will allow the user to log back in with a temporary password.

After logging in with a temporary password the user will be asked to enter a new password.
